Calgon, Take Me Away! Reclaiming your bliss...

What does it mean to be at peace?

How do we find this ever-elusive peaceful place? Can it exist amongst the laundry list of to-dos: work + home + family + friends + pets and wait a minute what about me-where do I fit in to this equation?

Sometimes it is easier said than done.

I get it. Well, you don’t have to stop everything to have it folks. In fact, you can have it all. Peace is the space between each moment. It’s the place we skip over to get to the next thing on our list. It’s always there but often ignored or drowned out by our inner voice telling us what’s next and how it’s stressing us out or how we did in that meeting earlier, or how silly we felt when we realized we had toilet paper stuck to our shoe yesterday.

So, how do I reclaim my peace?

Try this. Turn your phone off and turn away from your computer (well not quite yet but in a second.) I want you to put a time on your phone for 5 minutes (don’t try this while driving.) Once you have the time set, close your eyes and breathe. That’s all, just breathe.

Okay-go… So, what happened?

You probably notice your mind coming up with all kinds of opinions on other things you could be doing or maybe you started running through a list or, well, lots of chatter. Unless you are a yoga instructor, practice meditation, Qi Gong or another similar technique, you probably felt a little bit of a struggle with this. It’s all about training the brain. You run the brain; it doesn’t run you. By taking time to train the brain that quiet time is normal, you begin to experience a greater clarity as you go about your daily activities.

So how do you train your brain? All of the above-mentioned topics are great and here are a few more:

  • Reiki

  • Thai Massage

  • Yoga

  • Laughing

  • Meditation

  • Qi Gong

  • Walking

  • Journaling

  • Mindfulness Technique

  • Labyrinth Walking

  • Singing in the Shower (or anywhere really)

  • Martial Arts

  • Pursue a Passion/New Interest

  • Strenuous or Challenging Physical Exercise

  • Massage

  • Sex

Having an outlet to channel your energy, retrain the brain, refocus on something joyful or delightful might just be the magic recipe to take hold of your journey and start blazing a new trail-made from a place of peace. Don’t worry, you’ll still be productive and get everything done on your list. In fact, you may find that you’re even more productive because you’ll have a clarity of mind and an inner peace as you float through your daily activities. Wow! Sign me up for that! Gotta go! It’s time to meditate. Book a session with me if you would like to relax with a Reiki or Thai Massage. Just use the Book Now button at the top of the page. Love and Light!
